Hami is a boy without a home and spends his evening at the boarder’s
hostel of his single-sex, private boys’ school. While the school has its
own pecking order and systemised routines; the hostel has a completely
different set of rules, where Hami is king. However, when a “dayboy” who
prevented Hami from having a chance of a real family arrives on the
scene, the whole school is going to be turned on its head. From emerging
playwright, Harrison Kennedy, comes this explosive drama of young men
grappling with boyhood, brotherhood and the fragility of masculinity.
DayBoy
received rave reviews after its initial two-night season as part of the
University of Otago’s Lunchtime Theatre series in 2019. Arcade is proud
to produce this piece at the Dunedin Fringe Festival this year.
